Privacy Policy
Permit Prep collects as little information as possible from visitors and never sells personal data. This page explains what we collect and why.
Information we collect directly
Permit Prep does not require an account, does not include sign-up forms, and does not ask for your name, email, phone number, or payment information. You can browse the entire site anonymously.
Information collected automatically
Like nearly every website on the internet, our web servers automatically log basic information about each request: the page you visited, the time of the visit, your approximate region (derived from IP address), the browser you're using, and the page that linked you to ours. We use this information to debug errors and to understand which study pages are most useful so we can improve them.
We retain server logs for 30 days and then delete them. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics — for example, "the California speed limits page received 10,000 visits last month" — may be retained longer.
Cookies
Permit Prep uses essential cookies only — for example, a cookie that remembers whether you've dismissed the cookie banner. We do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
Our advertising partners may set their own cookies. See the advertising section below.
Advertising
Permit Prep is supported by display advertising. We use industry-standard ad networks that may set cookies to measure ad performance and to limit how often you see the same ad. These networks are governed by their own privacy policies and you can opt out of personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
We never share information you've typed into the site with advertisers, because we don't ask you to type anything in the first place.
Children's privacy
Permit Prep is intended for teen drivers studying for the DMV permit test. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information through our site (which would be unexpected, since we have no submission forms), please contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
If you live in a jurisdiction that grants you specific data rights — for example, the European Union under GDPR or California under CCPA — you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Because we don't collect personal information directly, in most cases we will have nothing to return, but we will respond to every request.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to how we handle visitor information, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date at the top of the document. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
